Battery Heated Clothing - Our Battery Technology

ActiVHeat^Ò Battery Safety Features:

Lithium Polymer Technology. Our lithium POLYMER battery technology is one of the lightest battery technologies available and is regarded as much safer than the more common lithium ION technology. Lithium ION technology is unsuitable for heated apparel applications as it can be a little delicate and unstable. Lithium ION batteries are used in most of the world’s laptop computers and five (5) million of them were recalled with the US Government in the 12 months to October 2007 because they can self ignite, catch fire and explode and some were doing just that! This would not be a good feeling when you’re actually wearing the incendiary battery on your person. Our ActiVHeat^Ò battery packs only use the safer lithium POLYMER technology.

Built-in Overcharging Protection. Overcharging a rechargeable lithium battery will likely result in explosion and/or fire. As an added safety feature, our lithium polymer battery packs have protection built right into the battery pack to protect against such overcharging. They cannot be overcharged. You can leave them plugged right into the charger for as long as you like and the battery will not be affected. Plug-in and forget!

Impact Protection. Our ActiVHeat^Ò battery packs are encased in a spongy neoprene housing which protects the battery from shocks in case you drop it on a hard surface (it will happen!). For added protection, a rigid polymer casing inside the neoprene further protects the battery pack.

ActiVHeat^Ò Battery Technology!

Separate Charging and Use sockets. Our ActiVHeat battery pack has one socket for charging it and one socket for using it. This is much safer than one socket for both charging and using. Also, the socket sizes are different so you can’t get confused about which socket to plug into.

Patent Pending Hibernation Mode. The ActiVHeat Hibernation mode allows for storage up to 10 months without needing a recharge. This is really important. Other rechargeable lithium battery pack systems needs to be charged every 2 to 3 months to avoid PERMANENT loss of charging ability. With those battery packs if you forgot to charge up the battery pack at the end of the winter season and at least once during the summer, you would find the battery pack only giving you a few minutes charge when you tried to charge it up and use it again in the fall and your investment in your heated garment would have been wasted. With the ActiVHeat hibernation mode, you simply charge up the battery pack at the end of the season and then switch it to hibernation mode over the summer. In the fall, you simply switch it back to Normal mode, charge it up once and you are back in business!

ActiVHeat^Ò Battery Performance Features:

Rechargeable/ Reusable. Unlike alkaline batteries which are can only be used once, our ActiVHeat^Ò battery pack can be recharged and reused up to 500 times before you need to replace it.

Lightweight. Weighing only 4.8 ounces, our ActiVHeat^Ò battery pack won’t weight you down on the go but provides the same energy as 6 high capacity AA-sized one-time use batteries—again and again!

Low Temperature Operation. In cold temperatures our ActiVHeat^Ò Battery pack keeps its charge much better than rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride batteries and also better than Lithium ION batteries so the heat will last longer. Also, the neoprene cover insulates the battery pack, keeping it warmer for longer & holding its charge for longer.

Battery Life Over Discharge Protection. Overdischarging a rechargeable lithium battery will mean it will not be able to hold as much charge next time you charge - it will heat up for less time each time you use it. You don’t have to worry about this problem as we have built in protection against this problem right into the battery pack!

No Memory Effect. You don’t have to worry about any “memory” effects and can use as little or as much as you want of the battery charge before recharging. The battery pack does not need to be emptied of charge before you charge it up again. One less problem for you to worry about!
