Q.  How long does a battery pack last?

A: One fully-charged ActivHeat standard battery pack lasts up to  5 hours on the low setting  and up to 1.5 hours on the high setting. Consider buying an additional battery pack to extend total warming duration throughout cold days! It takes about 3 hours to charge up a flat battery pack.

Q.  Where do I attach the battery pack?

A:  Unzip the front of the garment until you see the horizontal lower pocket inside.  Open the zipper all the way and feel down inside for the connector plug. Plug the connector plug into battery pack .

 Q.  Where do I attach the controller?

A:  Unzip the front of the heated garment  & locate the thin vertical pocket inside.  Undo the button, open the zipper all the way and feel down inside for the connectors. Plug the controller into both these connectors.

Q.  How do I adjust the heating level?

A:   When the controller and battery pack are connected, press the button on the controller to adjust the heat level. Press once for HIGH level, press again to lower the heat as per the diagram below.

Q. What are the special care instructions for the ActiVHeat garment ?

A:   The heated jackets and heated vests can be hand washed.  Before washing, ensure you remove the controller & the battery pack and replace the attached cap on the garment connector located inside the controller pocket.

Q. What if my ActiVHeat garment doesn't get warm?

A. Follow the 4 steps below:

1. Wait a few minutes to feel the warmth. The ActiVHeat garment produces a gentle warmth not a sudden burst of heat.

2. Check the ActiVHeat garment plug is connected to the charged Battery Pack.

3. Ensure the Battery Pack is charged by plugging the Battery Pack into the Charger in a wall outlet. If there is a red light on the Battery Pack, it needs charging. It is fully charged when a green light is on.

4. Ensure BOTH the controller plug and socket are securely connected to the garment plug and socket. ( If only the controller plug is connected, the Controller light may illuminate but no power is going to the heating elements in your garment.)

Q. When do I need to replace the  battery pack?

A. The rechargeable Battery Pack will eventually stop charging effectively. This is normal and is caused by several factors including the number of times charged, the length of time unused and the ambient temperature. It will usually require replacement after about 500 charges. Note: Properly dispose of the used Battery Pack. Do not dispose by general household refuse. Consult your local municipality for correct disposal or recycling of lithium polymer rechargeable batteries.

Q. How do I get the best results from my ActiVHeat garment?

A. The closer the garment is to your skin, the more heat you will feel. Further, it is recommended you wear an outer layer of clothing to further trap the heat around your body.

The ActiVHeat system will provide heat on the chest areas and upper back for up to 5 hours of continuous use. You will get the best from your ActiVHeat garment by switching the Controller as described below.

Normally you would switch your ActiVHeat garment to HIGH (Red) approximately 5 minutes before going outside. Depending on the external temperature and how physically active you are, you should then be able to switch the garment down to a lower heat level or to OFF after approx. 15 - 20 minutes, as the heat generated from your muscles will be sufficient to keep you warm.

If you become inactive, or the temperature drops or you feel cold, switch the garment on to HIGH immediately until you either start moving again or you reach a comfortable temperature, when you may be able to switch down the heat level.

Q.  For what length of time does the battery pack continuously operate ?

A. The heating duration depends upon several factors including whether the battery is fully charged, the temperature of the battery pack, and whether you are using it continuously. The graph below shows the maximum continuous heating time. For example, at the low setting the standard battery pack can last up to 5 hours if you are using it continuously. Normally, as noted in the paragraph above,  you will turn off the heat when you have warmed up and this will dramatically extend the battery pack duration time.

Q. Is it safe?

A. Our heated jackets, vests and battery packs have been rigorously tested by Bureau Veritas, an internationally renowned independent testing laboratory. Should you require more detailed testing information we would be happy to supply it to you. See below:

Q.  How hot does it get?

A.   It depends upon the ambient temperature and wind conditions as well as the insulation worn by the user. For example, a piece of our fleece fabric covering the heating elements tested under Underwriters Laboratories (UL) test conditions at 77 degrees Fahrenheit (F) ambient temperature, the heating elements reach 149 degrees F. Alternatively, in an environment with no wind and an ambient temperature of 41 degrees F the garment will heat up to about 113 degrees F inside the garment (at the highest heat setting level).

Q.   How can I charge the battery pack in my car or on my bike?

A.    You can purchase an auto battery pack adapter from this website to charge the battery pack in your car.
